I have often wondered about the hypocrisy of "preaching" virtuous things. Game theory concepts have made me think even more :)
As a child I grew up reading the "Blighted" Enid. Where honesty, forthrightness, being straight forward are all seen as great qualities; Whereas spite, under handedness are all never forgiven!
Why go thousand miles to the west? Some thing more closer at home..our good old Rajini movies, how much ever masala they all have the message is very simple and uniform. The good triumphs over bad. The hero who is a paragon of virtues always gets the beautiful, gregarious, skimpily clad, party hopping (Who then turns very pious later!) girls.
Kids grow up thinking that is how the world is.. neat black and white.. You just have to pick the white.. Bhaaaaaam!
Rude shock when they realize that their sometimes good buddies and colleagues also play game theory concepts at their best. What is the net gain? Do the game playing people actually maximize their gain? or do they just sour their relationship for no net gain?
Why does this disparity even exist? Is it because the 1st person who tries to play a game doesn't have a dominant strategy? Or is it because they grew up without reading the Enid Blyton school series? Of course life is really complex, and cannot fit in a 2X2 matrix.
I heard some golden words of wisdom that is worth repeating.. "What is the point in doing an MBA, if you can't fit scenarios in a 2X2 matrix?" :)

At the edge
I should attribute it to the 1st term finals looming in the air in 2 days. I have hardly studied. Guess the "Open" book paper is letting me be lethargic. But I feel it is going to be much tougher than a closed book paper.
The last Economics was "ok", so if a similar paper is given, guess I can scrape through. History repeats itself, I am exactly the way I was in college and school, procrastination of studies being the motto.
Work is not being forgiving either. Just lots to do! :( wish I could distance myself from everything.

Oh well!
Life has changed! I dont ever remember refusing an invitation to party with people I like. Today i picked to slog over Finance at home vis-a-vis watching Batman!
No regrets - the evening was well spent over hair pulling mind numbing revenue recognition problems.
I came across this video today a friend of mine at work sent it across. Real cute one. The music is really appeasing and the thought is awesome.
Now that I have spread the joy of education, living and friendship I shall get back to work!
