Dasavatharam.. I am glad I spent the 250 bucks I did. The movie starts with a powerful 12th century episode. It is about the war between shivites and vaishnavites. Kamal acts as the custodian of iyengar virtues. He tries to prevent the king from removing Lord Ranganathar's Deity from a temple and gets drowned along with the idol in the bargain.
There havent been many movies that have showed iyengars being brave. (I cant seem to recall even one) You always have pavom looking "Poornam" Vishwanathan or the likes potraying brahmins. The way Kamal says "Om namo Narayanaya" when asked to say "Om nama shivaya" sure does makes me emotional. But feeling good as a fellow iyengar stops there.
In the entire movie, they are bent upon throwing Lord Govindarajar's idol around. Really feels bad.. The story is so-so. The make-up is really bad. Music finally makes sense, the investment on the CD-A has paid off.
I wish I can get a good desktop wallpaper of the iyengar Kamal :)
